PLATING IMPORTS AFTER MAY 2003
Do you own an imported vehicle without a compliance plate? Do you own a vehicle that has been registered for engineering and market evaluation? Can't find anyone who can plate your vehicle? If so, you maybe required to export or destroy your vehicle after the 7th May 2003, under government legislation.
With the introduction of the Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicle Scheme (SEVS), all previous Low Volume Scheme (LVS), Compliance Plate Approvals (CPA's) will expire. Any vehicle imported under one of these approvals and not fitted with a compliance plate by 7/5/03 will have to be exported or destroyed.
What can you do?
The Dept of Transport and Regional Services has provided a concession, whereby Registered Automotive Workshops (RAW's) can plate your vehicle under through their company under SEVS, (even after the 7/5/03 deadline). New legislation allows this to be done at any time (even after the 7th May 2003), with the exception of vehicle that are more than 15 years old. (http://raws.dotars.gov.au/)
Crossover Car Conversions is one such company and is willing to assist in ensuring your car can be fully complied and ready for registration.
Time is running out. It is important that if you are in this situation that you act now!
